Tanique Somers
M.A. (Spanish), MFT Intern
Marriage & Family Therapist Intern

(She/her/hers)

Tanique Somers holds an M.A. in Spanish and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Manhattan University. As an emerging clinician, she brings both curiosity and deep empathy into the therapy space—creating an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and supported on their journey toward healing and connection.

Tanique’s clinical interests include intergenerational trauma, with a particular focus on Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS) and how historical wounds continue to shape Black families and relationships today. She is also passionate about supporting clients navigating mother-daughter relationships and the grief that often accompanies divorce and other significant transitions.

With a heart for culturally responsive care, Tanique is committed to serving diverse communities, including Spanish-speaking clients. Her language skills and cross-cultural understanding help bridge gaps in care and foster meaningful therapeutic connections with clients from various backgrounds. She is also currently training in the Gottman Method to support couples and families.

Tanique’s approach:

Grounded in empathy and guided by curiosity, Tanique collaborates with clients to explore what’s working in their relationships—and what may be getting in the way. She helps clients examine the messages they’ve internalized about love, identity, and connection, and empowers them to rewrite those narratives in alignment with their truth and values.

As a Marriage and Family Therapy intern, I’m honored to support you through this chapter. You don’t have to carry it all alone—we’ll face it together.”
